Talena Smith BA(hons) is a specialist providing vocalists with the techniques required for powerful & extreme vocals. From the genres of Pop & RnB to Rock & Metal, Talena will give you the skills needed to belt like a pop diva or growl like a metal king. Whether you are a beginner looking to train to enter this demanding field or are a professional wanting to improve your technique, Talena can offer tuition to suit your specific needs. Currently a vocalist for Manchester-based metal band Gone Til Winter, Talena has been performing within these genres for many years and after becoming a singing teacher discovered that there are few resources for extreme vocalists.

Q: "Can you please give me some general tips on screaming/screamo please?" A: Where shall I start.... <p> 1st thing you must do, is get your breathing sorted...using the right technique there will help straight away (research belly & diaphragmatic breathing). <p> Next thing to do, is learn to NOT use your upper body (chest, neck & shoulders) to produce the sound...it all comes from the diaphragm etc, <p> Then, learn to just let rip...never hold back, hold your breath or hold to body to stiff...you need to just let it go as if you were screaming for your life... <p> You should NEVER feel discomfort in your throat...if you are; this is not a good sign! <p> Hope that helps.
